Typography is the style and appearance of printed matter. A good example of typography is calligraphy. Typography can be used to with images in many ways. It can be used as a caption for the photo to tell what the photo is about. It can be used to make a picture and describe the thing in the picture. It can also be used to make typography portraits, which are portraits of people that are made out of text. You can make it in photoshop, which is what we are doing right now in GT. My biggest challenge while making typography portraits is trying to make the photo actually look like the person. I especially had trouble with this in my teacher portrait. I really got the hang of doing everything with making the text and getting it on the photo so you can read it but it was hard to bring out the person's details. I had to watch the tutorial a bunch of times. After trying it over and over again, I finally got the hang of getting all of the person's features in a clear view. For my first example I chose an innovator. My innovator is Elon Musk, widely known for being the CEO of the electric car company Tesla. I had a little trouble with making the text but I finally figured it out and it turned out pretty good. If you want to make one yourself, read this tutorial. My second example is a teacher portrait. The teacher I chose is my English teacher Mrs. Brassington. I really like the colors I chose for her portrait but while doing it I did something to her mouth so it didn't turn out too well. I honestly think that I could've improved on her portrait. The last typography portrait is the portrait of me. I honestly think that it looks okay. It probably doesn't look too much like me and if I had time I would star all over. If you want to make one yourself read these directions. My favorite portrait overall is the portrait of me. Although it doesn't necessarily look like me I think that it was the most fun to make. |
